Advantages and disadvantages of using the internet and social networks.

The Internet is a network of computers that are interconnected worldwide to share information. It is a set of equipment that relates to each other through the use of a universal language.

Social networks are structures formed on the Internet by people or organizations that connect through common interests or values. Through them, relationships are created between individuals or companies quickly. 

But this has its advantages and disadvantages:

Advantages:

• Easy, fast and cheap access to information, communication and entertainment.
• Helps in teaching, arts, technology, medicine and sciences in general.
• Communication services: easy, fast and global.
• They help us stay up to date with current events.
• We can express our opinion and share it with others.
• They help us stay connected to the world.

Disadvantages:

• Use of personal data for unknown purposes.
• Encourages sedentary lifestyle.
• Digital crime.
• Online harassment.
• Spam.
• Fake news.
• Generates addiction.

I think that the internet and social networks have more disadvantages because there are always people who want to do harm, but it also has advantages that are few but very useful, such as helping to have information at hand, and learning more easily.

Several scientific studies say that excessive use of social networks can cause effects in young people: social isolation, distortion between the real and virtual world, lack of attention towards other activities, depression, anxiety, health problems and school failure.

There are methods to avoid the risk of addiction or theft on the Internet:

• Do not share anything that could harm your integrity and image.
• Only use networks that you can manage with ease and control.
• Don't use the same password and email for all your networks.
• Always log out.
• Be wary of external links or spam.
• Do not share your information in exchange for gifts or promotions.
